I seem to spend a lot of time complaining on this blog, but the anger has to go somewhere.Margaret Gunninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16281594044624096600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8774625592830261479.post-16602130722280716152010-10-23T17:33:36.627-07:002010-10-23T17:33:36.627-07:00I turned the trick on them for a while back when I...I turned the trick on them for a while back when I was collecting rejections to paper my office walls. I had a stamp made up that said Bingo Bango Agency, with my address underneath. Also had a smaller stamp with my name and the word "agent" underneath. I put the small one in red in the corner and the big one was the letterhead. Used this for my queries to introduce an "exciting new writer in our stable...," which was me.

I actually had one editor write back and ask what the hell was Bingo Bango Agency. One time I'd sent a manuscript to Harpers and didn't have an SASE. Later realized I didn't have a copy of the story, so I wrote a letter on my letterhead apologizing for the "clerk" who'd forgotten the SASE. I said she was no longer with the agency and could they please send the script back. This time I included an SASE. Don't remember if I ever heard from them. Probly blacklisted with an entire generation of New York editors and publishers. Ah, well. I still have the stamps.Mathew Pausthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06157135006791553019noreply@blogger.com
